For over twenty-five years we have been committed to the development of materials from renewable sources and to the promotion of a systemic approach to bioplastics and bioproducts, which has enabled us to become internationally recognised leaders. We operate abroad through our seats in France, Germany and North America and through a network of distributors.In 2021, with the aim of creating new alliances with international stakeholders and launching innovative projects to improve organic waste collection and composting systems in North America, Scandinavian countries, Eastern Europe and Australia, Novamont acquired BioBag International.
BioBag International is a world-leading group working in the development, production and marketing of certified compostable and biodegradable applications for industry, waste management, retail, HORECA and agriculture. The group is also present on the market with products based on post-consumer recycled material (PCR), marketed under the GreenPolly brand.
Its mission is to solve the waste challenge through sustainable solutions. Its vision is to protect and expand its leadership position in providing products and solutions that promote sustainability and improve the quality of the environment, to meet growing customer demands for environmentally sound solutions for “zero-waste” initiatives.
With a turnover of EUR 41 million and 135 employees, BioBag is headquartered in Askim, Norway, it has a major production site in Estonia, subsidiaries in Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, Finland, Poland, Australia, Canada and the USA.
Over the years, it has developed an approach of synergistic collaboration with companies all over the world to reach thousands of customers on a global scale. Thanks to their great cultural compatibility and the harmony of vision and values, Novamont and Biobag have been working together for over 20 years on joint projects aimed at creating a circular bio-economy model based on the regeneration of territories and with soil health at its heart.
This acquisition represents an important step towards the consolidation of Novamont's integrated bioplastics and biochemical value chain.
