Bioeconomy for soil regeneration: Catia Bastioli among the speakers at the conference promoted by Re Soil Foundation
On October 1, the web Conference "All 4 Soil/Soil for All - Bioeconomy for soil regeneration", organized by Re Soil Foundation as part of the PreCOP26 initiatives, was held online with the aim of showing the role that healthy soil and circular bioeconomy can play in the decarbonization of our atmosphere.
Included among the partner events of the All4Climate launched by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the conference was attended by 12 experts, who were invited to illustrate the research progress in the sector and the most relevant successful case studies.
Catia Bastioli, CEO Novamont and Member of the Soil Health and Food Mission, recalled the value of the Italian bioeconomy, first in Europe for biodiversity and high added value products, second for Research and Innovation, third for turnover and employment. Bastioli then highlighted the need to leverage the records of this meta-sector, which includes agriculture, agri-food, wood, paper, green chemistry and bio-energy, to regenerate degraded soils and to achieve and exceed the objectives of the Green Deal and the Farm2Fork Strategy.
Among the guests also Roberto Moncalvo, President of Coldiretti Piemonte and Board Member of Re Soil Foundation, who illustrated the Italian experience in sustainable agriculture, focusing on Mater-Agro as a significant example of bio-economy for soil regeneration. The new society, born from the collaboration between Novamont and Coldiretti, aims at promoting an open innovation model involving agriculture and industry, which provides land entrepreneurs with agronomic tools to preserve the soil.
