Novamont and the FRONTSH1P PROJECT at the international Circular Week

OnOctober 6, the webinar “Making the Agri-Food Sector Circular” was held online, organized by Eurada and ICONS, in the framework of the Circular Week 2022, the international campaign that promotes the idea of circular economy, supports sustainable business models and establishes cooperation between interested stakeholders in Europe.

During the event, multiple Green Deal projects related to the agri-food sector were presented and participants had the opportunity to discover innovative approaches and solutions to the current challenges facing this field, like greehouse emissions, food losses and waste.

Among the European initiatives described also the FRONTSH1P project, funded within the European research and innovation program Horizon 2020. FRONTSH1P aims at ensuring green transition of the Polish Lodzkie Region towards decarbonization and territorial regeneration through the implementation of highly replicable circular systemic models. One of these models is coordinated by Novamont and specifically focused on the valorisation of agricultural feedstock, food industry waste and urban biowaste into a variety of eco-designed products in a circular bioeconomy approach.

Daniele Turati, Novamont R&D and FRONTSH1P Project Manager, illustrated the project’s objectives and group’s activities within the partnership. He then highlighted the organic waste separate collection system in Milan as interesting case study of success in the valorisation of urban waste, which can be replicable in other contexts such as the Lodzke Region in Poland.
