The aim of the day was to stimulate and facilitate collaboration between stakeholders for the creation of shared action plans to promote regional development based on the territorial resources of Piedmont, with a focus on the textile sector.
Patrizio Salice – Novamont R&D New materials and new technologies - attended the session "The textile industry of the future - The opportunities represented by the circular bioeconomy for the revitalization of the textile industry in a sustainable key", where he illustrated the research activities carried out within EFFECTIVE, the European project funded by the Bio Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU).
EFFECTIVE aims to create new paths for the production of polyamides and polyesters starting from renewable raw materials, in order to obtain sustainable fibers and films, with improved and competitive properties on the market. The final objective is the development of two biobased supply chains establishing new interconnections between different sectors: one dedicated to the production of polyamides destined to apparel, carpets, primary packaging sectors, and one dedicated to the production of polyesters for the secondary packaging sector.
During the day more than 30 speakers shared their good practices, research, ideas, projects and solutions to stimulate the afternoon working groups between different actors from industry, research, universities, public administration and civil society.
